Executive Summary

Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander populations in California continue to grow at a faster pace than all other major race and ethnic groups, except for the American Indian or Alaska Native population. However, the growth rates for all groups from 2010 to 2020 have declined compared to that of the previous decade from 2000 to 2010.  

This report provides a snapshot of key demographic characteristics of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander populations. It serves as a baseline for a new data tool that AAPI Data is rolling out in summer 2022, which will provide annual updates on key demographic indicators, disaggregated by race, detailed origin, and geography.
