About Ben Soo

Meet Ben Soo, a second-year student at UC San Diego. Originally from Oakland, Ben is passionate about using graphic design to create positive impact and to use design as a powerful tool for storytelling and connection.

Design Inspiration

Ben’s design tells a story of shared identity, showing up, and collective growth within AANHPI communities — highlighting how we must be there and rely on each other to build a stronger future. He hopes his design reminds AANHPI individuals that our shared roots and stories are a source of strength, not something to hide. He wants others to see the depth and richness of our communities — not just as data points and numbers, but as people with real stories coming together to stand up for a better future.

About Judy Wang

Meet Judy, a third year student at Georgetown University studying political economic and studio art. Judy is passionate about tech policy, focusing on AI and copyright law, a focus which allows her to explore her interests in both policy and art.

Design Inspiration

Drawing on the symbolism of light, Judy’s design features lanterns—widely recognized across Asia in many forms—as a unifying motif. To represent the broader AAPI community, she incorporated silhouetted figures to convey anonymity and inclusivity. She also added important dates in Asian American history to the lanterns to evoke a sense of heritage, reminders of both our past triumphs and the work that still lies ahead.

Judy hopes the design inspires a sense of hope rooted in our shared history and the power of collective action. For those within our communities, it’s a reminder that we are part of a long lineage of resilience and resistance. For those outside, it offers a window into our ongoing struggles and contributions, encouraging solidarity and deeper understanding.
