Partnerships, Research, Impact: Our 2024 Journey
Message from Karthick Ramakrishnan, Founder and Executive Director
As we close out the year together, I’d like to take a moment to reflect with you.
Working with our partners, we made major strides in 2024 in ensuring greater recognition and representation for our communities. Our collective action produced tremendous results, even amidst significant challenges.
I am excited to announce that AAPI Data had its most impactful year to date. Since we began in 2013, our mission has been to harness the power of data and narrative to make a meaningful difference in the lives of AA & NHPI communities.
Some of our impacts can be measured in numbers. In 2024, we had:
- Over 7,000 news stories that featured AAPI Data and our research, including national and international coverage
- Over 152,000 page views on our website
- Over 100 organizations who engaged in our data equity campaigns
- Over 35 strategy sessions with various federal and state agencies
The impact of our other accomplishments will be measured in the years to come. In 2024, AAPI Data:
- Helped catalyze and shape a once-in-a-generation shift in federal policy in terms of how our communities are counted and recognized.
- Generated insights on key issues like the economy, education, climate change, and abortion—publishing nearly a dozen new surveys, including our landmark election year surveys with APIAVote.
- Fostered powerful partnerships, such as with the Associated Press, NORC, APIA Vote, Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA), the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), and the National Conference of State Legislatures.
- Equipped decision makers and partners with valuable insights, hosting and participating in dozens of virtual events and in-person convenings across the country.
As we look ahead and enter 2025, we remain steadfast in our work to serve as a trusted voice on key issues, with commitments to community and to evidence-based decision making as our central pillars.
In community,
Karthick and the AAPI Data team
