AAPI Data, a nationally recognized publisher of demographic data and policy research on Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, is pleased to announce two new openings for a Communications and Public Relations Director and a Social Media/Web Design Specialist.
Both positions are full-time staff (hybrid or remote) that support our critical work in California. Priority deadline for applications is Monday, August 29, 2022, but will remain open until filled.

Position Descriptions
Communications and Public Relations Director
The Communications and Public Relations Director plays a key role in devising media communications, building public relations, overseeing AAPI Data’s social media, and developing strategic initiatives to further advance the public presence of AAPI Data. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and highly collaborative leader with experience in developing and implementing communications strategies. Prior experience engaging with government agencies, elected officials, or community organizations is preferred.
Social Media/Web Specialist
Reporting to the Communications and Public Relations Director, the Social Media/Web Design Specialist will be responsible for implementing social media strategies and content, developing AAPI Data brand and audience, creating and updating web content and graphic design, and strengthening AAPI Data’s strategic mission through social media and online engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and storytelling abilities to produce visual content while staying updated on new tools, applications, and social channels to circulate relevant content to drive interest. Duties include designing and implementing effective social media activities, consistent brand messaging, and evaluating the success of different promotion and publicity methods.

Over the next few months, the team expects to add two new full-time staff members and a research fellow that will enable the program to better serve community organizations, policy makers, journalists, researchers, and the general public. Since 2018, the program has organized its work along the principles of DNA: Data, Narrative, Action, aiming for meaningful improvements in policies, practices, and investments that serve AAPI communities.
